Domingo de Dulcinea: Jogging with Dulcinea

{Guest post by Christian today. His writing is in Spanish, my translation in English.}

Today we woke up at 11am which is later than we usually get up, but we were waiting for the sun to heat things up a bit since Dulcinea and I had plans to go jogging at Parque Bicentenario!

We got up and began to prepare ourselves—I looked for my new watch which measures your cardiac rhythm, my MP4 player and I put on my sports clothes...Dulcinea of course was naked! (Obviously if she was going to do exercise, it was necessary to take off her sweater.) We got in the car and headed off to the park.

As usual when we got to the park Dulcinea went crazy. She got so excited to get to the park that she began to bark and the hair on her back even stood up!!! She went from being a cute little dachshund to being a Critter!!! Hahahaha....for those that don’t remember what the Critters are, here is a little reminder:

When we got down to the park, I pushed Start on my stopwatch and gave the command “run” to Dulcinea! This is the command we typically use when we go for walks with her around the neighborhood and as we head back to the house...basically we tell her “run” and she runs like a crazy person until we reach the house. The bad thing is that the park is kind of far from our house and we were also running in circles. After jogging for 20 minutes we decided to stop since our tongues were hanging out. Well, my tongue was hanging out that is....and Dulcinea was as if she had just woke up!!!

Dulcinea rarely stopped, only a few times when she was scare of the bicycles or big dogs…we are seriously considering starting to take her jogging a few times a week. In general, today’s exercise was really great!!! According to my watch, we burned 223 calories, we lost 27 grams of fat and on average, our heart beat was 137 per minute.

If I scared you a bit with the image of the Critter, here is a picture of Dulcinea when she is calm and back to being a pretty dachshund:

Your dachshund likes to jog? My grandma has a little dachshund and I don't think she was ever a jogger! She liked to run, just not on a leash with a person on the other end.
